Standardized testing Who thought of that!

In my EDC class today we were talking about a book we had to read Why Kids Hate School. It's a pretty good book. In this book it interviews and research why kids hate school. The big topic my class got stuck on was Standardized testing! As we got talking about this subject I was wondering what politician would ever think this was  the answer to finding out how students are learning??? As it was said in the book we were reading standardized testing and the No child left behind act is more of a "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" education. when every child learn different. Now days teachers have a list of things that they have to get in, in the year to be able to have the students "know" what they need to "know" for the MAP test or end of course exams. When in most cause the students are shutting out the teacher because it is more of a memorize and force feeding education.  The teachers are just hurrying through the material to be able to get it all in. Most students want a fun way to learn and/or Want to know why they need to know the information, how it will impact them and how to use it in real life. When Teachers have started to do this the students have shown a better success rate. But in all this it still doesn't get rid of the standardized testing! Most schools are so worried about how good tehir students will do and put so much pursure on their studnets for these test! When really it doesn't show how much or what the students are learning at all. Has anyone took into consideration:
* students may not test well
* students may not care becasue everyone makes such a big deal out of the test
* student with disabliities may not be able to do the test.
* the students doesn't have a good home life
* the student had a bad teacher
I'm sure there are many more reasons. Are the politicians stepping foot into the class rooms and putting them selfs in the positions of the students? Most aren't yet they think testing is the best way. When it is just making angry students and making students think that they aren't good enough.

This may be a little blabbing but it's very true.
What do you think?

God is GOOD!

This weekend was quite the weekend! On friday after babysitting I went and tailgated with some of the youth at Republic for their football game. Then a few of us went to nixa to go to orange leaf! Very good! Saturday my mom came down for a girls weekend. Since the TJMax is Soooooo mucg better here ( I see no difference in the one in lee's summit) we went shopping. Hit up Tjmax, Marshals, Kirkland,Gordmans, Walmart and a cute little home decor store. It was alot of fun. We went to lunch at Lola's on Saturday! Which everyone in SPF knows what I'm talking about. It is a cute little breakfast and lunch place in a house in nixa.  I got a few new fall/winter outfits and a purse. Then Sunday we went to church! She got to see my life down here pretty much and family.  Over all fun weekend!

Then Sunday night I got offered the Job i interviewed for on Wed. YES I took it! It is with Arc of the Ozark which is an organization that works with kids and adults that have special needs. I'll be working in their Behavioral Intervention Solutions department. Which I will travel around to homes in the area and outside of the city to work with the famliy's and their child. I will also get to work aside kids with special needs for like camps and things  like that! I'm super excited! This is right up my allie! and it is such a God thing. I didn't even apply for this job. I had applied through another department in Aug. and they had already hired but kept my application on file. When the lady that interviewed me saw mine the references that I had was a child's family that she had worked with this summer!  It was so cool how this worked out!

One year!

This weekend has quite the events.
the goat loved the tooth past
First was on Friday night through Saturday I had Africa training at school to the nations. This was fun. Got to know alot about the people that I will be going on the trip with. We didn't get rained on friday night a whole lot. We set up camp first. Did i mention that we were in a African village. Them we made dinner, being chicken noodle soup over a camp fire. Oh and we had to go to the well for the water. That is the women job. Then we just did activity's around the camp fire. We learned the power of story. This is the main way we will be communicating with the Africans.
Then Saturday we were to do the ropes course but got rained out! It just poured. We still got to do a few lessons and have an African dinner!

Then came Saturday night!
Saturday was Will's and I's one year! So after I got done with training which was early he made it was down to springfield! We had dinner that night that I made and dessert!
our dinner

Sunday we were to do a picnic and fish at Lake Springfield. Then go ziplining. Little to say it poured all day again. So we went and did our picnic because they has a covered area.

So monday between my classes we went and fished! It was so nice out! It was a lot of fun we didn't catch a thing. Oh wait I did I got the hook caught on the brush in the lake and may I say I didn't throw my pole that way!
Yes only I can get a hook stuck in brush

After my class Monday night will had been to the mall while I was in class and came to pick me up with a starbucks coffee and Jeggins! Then we came back and he made me dinner while I worked on fundraiser stuff! Such an awesome guy! I love him so much!

Just Trust

It's been a while since I've posted but I've been so busy with school and Africa Fundraisers.

Well whats been going on?!?!?!

Pretty much just doing a bunch of fund raising for Africa!

To night on of the bigger fundraisers that me and a friend were doing together fell through.
I do have to say that I was kinda panicked, mainly because in a month I have to have all the money for the flight in or I'm not going on the trip. Which at this point I have a little over half that money! But then I remember I can't rely on my self to get the money for this trip I have to rely on GOD. He can make it happen some way or another.

In the mean time I've been having fun creating new ideas for fundraisers...My newest being Journals! They are so much fun!

Labor Day weekend!

What a wonderful weekend! I went home to KC this weekend because I have no clue when I will be there again!Friday night when I got home I took a trip to get dinner with my brother in his car! There is a reason we don't ride together! Also he drives me CRAZY!!! Every time you try to talk to him he will trun up the music on you! So this would be another reason we don't hung out much.  But all in all he is liking college and is a Frat boy now( lord help us)! Saturday I started out my wonderful day with a run to the Mac store to get my computer fixed. If anyone knows I've been running my email because every time I would run any email system it would shut down my internet system that was running. Well kinda an easy fix or we think. Some of the main components in my operating system where failing. So fast way to fix it was to buy the new operation system.  Which I did hopefully that will fix it when it comes in the mail! Then that was followed by a trip to the verizon store to activate my new phone they sent me. When I got home later on that afternoon me and my mom went to dirty don's. For you that don't know it's pretty much a warehouse, were you can discounted food. It's food from trucks that have recd( you do have to watch dates there. They have all sorts of fun findings! Then it was a night in. Made some cupcakes and had an old friend from church come by. That was so much fun to catch up with her! As for sunday: It was a great day! May day finally took me shooting to shoot trap!!!!! It's a Amazing!!!! If you know my dad never thought this would happen! Now I have a very bruise shoulder and arm! Then we went to my grandmas for lunch. After all this I went to dinner with Will's mom Gerri at only the best place in the world Panera bread! We had a delightful time! As for Monday it was another trip to the Mac store to find out now my keyboard is now going out! There was no fast fix to this it was keep my computer over night and not have it for week or ship it off same thing not have it for a week. So I'm using a USB keyboard for now, until thanksgiving when they can keep my computer!

It's A GOD thing

Last night as I was getting ready to print off a bunch of school stuff, I decided to check my email. Which with OTC I never check because it doesn't come to my phone. So I saw I had 4 emails. One was titled Financial Aid Status. I opened that first and to my surprise this is what the first line said. "Great news- Recent changes at the state level have determined you are now eligible to receive A Plus funding."
I was so surprise! In May I was told my GPA was to low to receive A+. I had a 2.46 and needed a 2.5. Which with my disability my grades hadn't been so high.  In all this my GPA hasn't changed! The rules have thought which made it so that I can use my A+! Totally A GOD thing!  On the other hand as well Missouri state was to send my transcript with my classes from last year to OTC, which never happened as well. Well one other new rule to A+ is they will only pay 105% of your degree. So if the degree is 65 hours they will only pay for 68 hours. With MSU not sending my transcript I only have 30hours to my A+ already so I have used 50% of it to them, which means once again I can get the money for all year! Once again a GOD thing! It so amazing to see what GOD can do in my life!
